Road Running

Picture
Road running has become increasingly popular around the country.

Barely a weekend goes by without a 5k or a 10k on offer, not to mention the many mid-week evening time races.

There has never been a better time to be involved in road running, and there’s no better way to get involved than with Crusaders Athletics Club.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to get started, would like to improve, or just add a bit more structure to your running, joining Crusaders Athletics Club should be your next step.

Rather than tackling a long run on your own, the Cru offers a great opportunity to link up with others of a similar standard and mindset and enjoy your exercise in good company.

Road runners of all levels will find some sessions tough but training in groups is very beneficial as Crusaders encourage and push each other to make the most of each session. Athletes see results quicker and sessions are ultimately more rewarding.

R
oad runners benefit in many ways from being members of an athletics club.

Camaraderie, structure and the expertise of our coaches mean that you can improve your fitness and performance in a friendly and enthusiastic environment.

Whatever your goals, training in a structured environment makes it easier to fit a good workout into a busy schedule.

Signing up for races is a great way to stick with any training programme.

Our members regularly organise trips to the big road races around Ireland. Also, taking part in marathons is a great way to see a city.

Every year, many Crusaders participate in the Dublin City Marathon and the Women’s mini-marathon.

Occasionally, small groups like to arrange trips to do marathons abroad.

Through road-running, you may also develop an interest in other areas of the club.

These could include cross-country, mountain running, or track running.

Adding a bit of variety to your running season keeps training fresh and interesting.

If you’re a runner looking for a club, or a beginner looking to get fit and running, come down to Irishtown Stadium on a Tuesday or Thursday evening and get involved (See Training for details). All levels of ability are welcome and catered for.

Prospective members are welcome to come along for a few weeks to see if the club suits their needs.

Alternatively, simply e-mail crusadersathleticsclub@gmail.com if you have any further queries.
