L-R: Sebastian Hansen, Saketh Ravuluri, Paul Campbell, Ella Campbell, Rebecca Fleming, Rachael Yorke, Dee Ni Chearbhaill, Gillian Earley, Isabelle Cairns, Eamon Power It’s that time of year again, graded track and field events along with iconic annual events such as the St. Coca’s 5k, Clonee 10k and Roscommon Harriers 10-mile road races, all conducted in sweltering conditions. The 6th Dublin graded track and field meet of the season took place on Wednesday evening at the Morton Stadium in Santry in warm conditions. Rachael Yorke ran in the women’s grade C 1500m, placing 2nd in 5:12.61, whilst in the men’s series, Enda Clarke placed 3rd in 4:12.03 in the grade B race. Gary Park took 7th spot in 4:56.02 in the first heat of the grade D event, whilst Brendan Glynn placed 12th in 6:06.15 in the second heat. Maria Cornado ran in the women’s 400m grade D race, placing 4th in 71.67, whilst, in the field, Daniel Murphy won the junior hammer event (B standard) and throwing the 5kg hammer 54.31m with the 4th of 6 throws. There was another BHAA road race on Tuesday evening. This was the Marsh 5k that took place on an undulating loop around Donomore Green south of Tallaght. In a field of 91, Joe Walsh placed 4th in 18:19, followed by Karl Walsh (10th in 19:06), Sharon Woods (41st overall and 3rd female finisher in 23:01) and Emma O’Mahony (57th overall, 6th female finisher and 1st F40). On Thursday, a few members made the trip, always a challenge in rush hour, to Clonee on the border of Counties Meath and Dublin. One or two decided not to race because of it being the hottest day of the year so far. Those that did, found the going challenging. In a field of 510, Killian Lynskey placed 88th in 41:45, followed by Eddie Nugent (120th in 43;47) and Robbie Moore (297th in 54:01). Then, the following evening, we had more takers for the St. Coca’s 5k, in slightly cooler conditions, but of course a shorter distance. At least 24 Crusaders joined the field of 518 in Kilcock, Co. Kildare for the race, held on a reasonably fast course and notable for having km markers that descend from 5k to the finish. The contingent was led home by Brian O’Kelly (12th in 14:57 and possibly given 1st M40 as the podium featured two of his age category). Brian was followed by Conor Kilkenny (44th in 15:55), Sebastian Hansen (45th in a PB time of 15:57), John Mulvihill (56th in 16:27), Brian Regan (63rd in a PB time of 16:40) and Ciarain Kelly (87th in 16:58). Further back and nursing a slight injury came Joe McDermott (117th in 17:31) and Joe was followed by Paddy Gaynor (128th in 17:32). Next came Doireann Hughes (202nd and 23rd in 18:46) and she was followed by Rachael Yorke (275th and 33rd in 20:10), Gill Earley (283rd and 38th in 20:20) alongside Miriam Logan (284th and 39th in 20:18), Saketh Ravuluri (293rd in 20:22), Phelim Murray (301st in 20:38), Isabelle Cairns (302nd and 43rd in 20:44), Bex Fleming (313th and 49th in 21:00), Dee Ni Chearbhaill (354th and 65th in 21:45), Eamon Power (407th in 23:35), Paul Campbell (431st in 24:35) along with his daughter Ella (433rd and 107th in 24:19), Michelle English (478th and 130th in 27:40), Carina Davidson (482nd and 133rd in 27:44), Paul E. Kelly (502nd in 29:18) and Helen Finucane (508th and 150th in 29:32). We had at least 5 Crusaders take part in the 505-strong Roscommon Harriers 10-miler. Again, in warm conditions, Ronan Smith placed 40th in 66:47, followed by Áine Kenny (59th and 10th in 70:56), Triona Quill (96th and 22nd in 75:04), Richard Kavanagh (210th in 85:21) and Kate Murray (384th and 176th in 1:40:00). In the hills last week, a field of 145 contested the “Not the Wobbly Bridge Rathdrum” 8.5k, organised by IMRA. On a course with a climb of 180m, Gavan O’Doherty was our sole entrant, placing 48th in 46:46. Onto the parkrun results for this week. Ciara Regan was a first finisher in Poolbeg on Saturday morning, placing 9th overall in 19:27. Ciara was headed by Simon Kenny (6th in 18:52) and then followed in the field of 248 by Tim O’Donnell (15th in 20:54), John Lohan (25th in 22:05), Zlatko Kulic (26th in 22:07), Daniel Littlewood (36th in 22:49), Franky Keane (45th in 23:20), Sharon Woods (52nd and 5th in 23:48), Eamon MacFhionnlaoich (56th in 23:59) and Kabir Sala (60th in 24:02). Further back came Juliane Frydenlund (101st and 21st in 26:42), followed by Thomas Vogée (105th in 26:47), Louise O’Riordan (116th in 28th in 27:16), Josie Ward (136th and 41st in 28:07), Iseult Ni Chuinneagain (143rd and 44th in 28:20), Fanny Trébouet (186th and 66th in 31:15), Maureen McGinley (196th and 70th in 32:18), Imogen Guinness (205th and 77th in 33:08) and Tara Murphy, tailwalking. Kathryn Tomkins found herself on the podium in Gorey, where, in a field of 171, she placed 11th and 3rd in 21:50, whilst, Laura O’Malley placed 20th and 2nd in the 94-strong field in Letterkenny. Meanwhile, in St. Anne’s with its field of 473, Daniel Toal placed 6th in 18:09, followed by Mikel Crisostomo (28th in 19:52), Bo Chicoine (223rd in 27:40) and Aisling O’Riordan (323rd and 95th in 31:17), whilst Daniel Lowe took 11th spot alongside 212 other runners in Dodder Valley. Daniel’s time was 21:29. Myles Nolan joined 51 other participants in Inch Beach, where he placed 8th in 23:34, whilst Paul F. Kelly took 21st place in Tramore, Waterford in a field of 114.
