This is to inform you about the summer arrangements for the Junior section of Crusaders Athletic Club. Please find the key dates and events below:
· Saturday, June 15th: End of season games day at 9.15am for all age groups. Additional training for older groups at 10.30am. · Sunday, June 16th: Final League for U10 to U16 at DSD Campus in Rathfarnham, starting at 11am. No need to preregister, just turn up on the day. Don’t forget Crusaders t-shirt. Timetable and list of events can be viewed on website under Juveniles & Upcoming Events: http://www.crusadersac.ie · Saturday, June 22nd: Last normal training day for most. · Sunday, June 23rd: First day of Nationals for U9/10/11 team pairs and U12 individuals and relay. This is for those who qualified. · July and part of August: Break for most, except for those who qualified for the National championships. · Early August: As the first of the cross country races are on 15th September we will be starting cross country training early August in the park (meet at the stadium), date will be confirmed via WhatsApp. · First week of September: Full normal training resumes on the track on usual days and times. The outdoor track and field season resumes on the 28th April with the first of the juvenile Leagues in Tallaght starting 10am for under 10s to under 16s. Full details of dates and timetables may be found under upcoming competitions on this website.
We are pleased to announce that there will be full resumption of Juvenile training on Saturday 2nd September at the usual times. the first cross country League is on Sunday 17th September and for those wishing to do cross country we will have cross country training in Ringsend park starting Saturday 19th August at 9.15 for 2010 and younger and 10.20 for those born 2009 and older
2023 National Indoor Championships
Following the Junior Cru success in the Dublin Indoors, a number of our Athletes qualified and competed in the National Indoor Championships in Athlone which ran on Saturday 25th March, Saturday 1st April and Sunday 2nd April. Sean Owens (U18) ran an outstanding 60m hurdles race to take Gold and the 2023 National Indoor Champion title in a time of 8.36. Our U18 4x200m relay team of Liam Beaumont, Sean Owens, Oscar Sherry and Luke Timlin came second with superb effort and runs from all. They now have National Silver medals to add to their Dublin Indoor Golds. A great reward for all their efforts this indoor season. Conor Quinn won Bronze in the U17 shotput to add to his Dublin Indoors Gold Luke Timlin (U18) ran a superb 200m final finishing in second place with a time of 22.35 well clear of the third place athlete, however Luke was disqualified from the race for a lane infringement. There were also some very strong performances, qualifications to finals and PBs from the Crusaders athletes. Schools International Athletics Board (SIAB) Cross Country Championships Following his 5th place and a medal in the National Schools Cross Country Championships in Waterford on 11th March, Lucas Ryan wore the Irish singlet having received international team selection to represent Ireland in the junior boys team at the Schools International Athletics Board (SIAB) Cross Country Championships in Liverpool on Saturday 25th March with the team taking the Bronze medal. Leinster Indoors JSM Championships 2023 In the Leinster Indoors JSM Championships 2023 on 11th March Luke Timlin won Gold in the 200 m and Silver in the 60 m sprint in the Junior Men (u20) category. Upcoming events The outdoor season is fast approaching with first League for under 16 Athletes on Sunday 23rd April in Tallaght and for athletes 16 years and older the first Graded meeting is on Saturday 29th April in UCD. Crusaders are also hoping to host a round of the Juvenile Leagues and the u9/10/11 pairs championships during May in Irishtown – TBC |
