Marathon trainingOne of the largest training groups at Crusaders is the marathon training group, which is open to runners of all abilities, and who train together at the following times:
Tuesdays 6.30pm - interval training (Irishtown Stadium) Thursday 6.30pm - Meet at the stadium reception Saturdays 10am - longer intervals (Phoenix Park) Sundays - long slow run (Phoenix Park) Every year, over eighty Crusaders members take part in the Dublin Marathon. However, throughout the year, smaller groups take part in other half and full marathons all over Ireland and the rest of the world, including Boston, New York, Berlin and Rotterdam. We have members that run marathons in under 2 and a half hours, over 5 hours and everything between! As a member of the Crusaders marathon group, you are provided with a training plan, tailored to your own ability. You are placed in a sub-group with others of a similar standard, and our dedicated marathon coaches are on hand to provide advice on a range of topics, including training, nutrition and race-day planning. To join the Crusaders marathon group, become a club member by paying your subscription. Then, come along to any training session and introduce yourself to one of the coaches, who will be happy to place you with an appropriate marathon training group.
