At JNR CRU we practice many types of athletic events, the main events we train for are -
- Running
- Middle Distance (Running)
- Long Jump
- High Jump
- Hurdles
- Throws
Running
Probably doesn't need an explanation but it is a form of physical activity that involves moving at a faster pace than walking, typically by lifting one foot off the ground at a time and using both legs to propel the body forward.

Middle distance
refers to races in athletics that fall between sprinting and long-distance events. Typically, middle distance races range from 800 meters (2 laps around a standard track) up to 3000 meters (7.5 laps around a standard track).

The long jump
is a track and field event where athletes run down a runway, then jump as far as they can into a sand pit. It is one of the four jumping events in track and field, along with the high jump, triple jump, and pole vault. In the long jump, the athlete's goal is to achieve the longest distance possible from the take-off point on the runway to the landing point in the sand pit, without fouling by crossing the foul line or stepping out of the sand pit.
Athletes typically use a combination of speed, power, and technique to maximize their distance. The event is contested in both indoor and outdoor competitions, and is popular at all levels of track and field, from youth and school meets to the Olympic Games.

The high jump
is a track and field event in which athletes try to jump over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without the use of any aids or props. The bar is placed between two uprights and the athlete has to clear it without knocking it down. Athletes have three attempts to clear each height, and they are eliminated from the competition once they fail to clear a height after three attempts.
The athlete's approach to the bar is a curved run, which allows them to convert their speed into upward momentum. The athlete then uses a technique known as the "Fosbury Flop," which involves jumping headfirst over the bar with their back facing the ground. The Flop technique has replaced the previously used techniques, such as the Western Roll and the Scissor Jump.
The winner of the competition is the athlete who clears the highest height. If multiple athletes clear the same height, the winner is usually decided based on the number of attempts it took them to clear that height. If two or more athletes clear the same height in the same number of attempts, the winner is decided based on the number of total misses they had during the competition.

Hurdles
are a track and field event where athletes run a set distance while jumping over a series of barriers called hurdles. Hurdles can be made of wood, plastic, or metal and are set up in a straight line or sometimes in a curve depending on the event. The hurdles are set at a specific height and distance apart based on the age and gender of the athletes competing.
During the race, athletes sprint towards the first hurdle and then jump over it, taking care to not knock it down, before continuing to the next hurdle and repeating the process until the finish line. Hurdles require athletes to have good speed, agility, and jumping ability, as well as the ability to maintain their speed and rhythm while jumping over the hurdles. Hurdles races can vary in distance, with the most common distances being 100m, 110m, and 400m hurdles. Hurdles events are commonly found in track and field competitions at all levels

Throws
are a group of track and field events that involve throwing a heavy object, such as a shot put, discus, hammer or javelin, as far as possible. Each event has its own set of rules, techniques and equipment.
Throwing events require a combination of strength, technique, and explosiveness, and athletes train extensively to improve their performance in these events. They are usually included in track and field competitions at all levels, from local meets to the Olympic Games.
