Crusaders is a force to be reckoned with in the world of athletics. With a strong and storied history, the club is considered one of the elite track and field organizations in Ireland. Year after year, Crusaders athletes dominate the competition, participating in events such as National indoor and outdoor championships.
One of the highlights of our track and field calendar is the National Track and Field League, which Crusaders have won on several occasions, and have subsequently had the honour of representing Ireland in Europe. As the weather heats up, so does the excitement on the track. The track season starts in April and runs until September, providing the perfect opportunity to get involved. Whether you're a seasoned pro or new to the game, Crusaders offers dedicated training for track events, specifically in middle distance (800, 1500 meters). These events are short, fast-paced and thrilling, perfect for those looking for a change from long-distance running. |
Our thriving track and field section caters to all ages and abilities, and our members compete, both indoors and outdoors, in competitions that range from Dublin Athletics Board graded meets, to National and International Championships, and from juvenile to masters age groups. We even host our own GV Ryan athletics meet at Irishtown Stadium every Summer.
Our members train for events including sprints, hurdles, middle distance, walks, jumps, throws and lots more! In fact, our dedicated team of coaches cover almost every discipline in track and field. In addition to training, Crusaders also competes in the Dublin Graded each year and fields teams for the summer Track and field league. This is your chance to be a part of something special and push your limits. If you're interested in trying out track/middle distance and joining the Crusaders track family, reach out to the club captains for more information. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to be a part of the excitement! |

Our most famous track and field athlete is Ronnie Delany, who won 1500m gold at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. His winning time was 3:41.20. He was also the seventh runner to join the club of four-minute milers. |
