If you do want to compete, the track & field season takes place mainly during the summer. There is also an indoor season during the winter for those looking for all year round competition. Athletes can compete individually, or as part of the team, and there are a number of events throughout the season and across the country catering to all standards and ages. Our athletes race at many events, and at many levels, both indoors and outdoors. There are national championships for age-groups, juniors, seniors and veterans, local Dublin Board graded meets and Irish Milers Clubs races but to name a few. Crusaders run the G.V. Ryan/Louis Vandendries Trophies event every year in Irishtown Stadium. The club also takes part in the Men’s and Women’s National Leagues which are the primary team events. With an amazing team spirit and camaraderie in the club, Crusaders men’s team have won the League on a number of occasions and earned the right to represent Ireland in Europe. |
We support and develop athletes to achieve their own personal goals.
Since the club’s foundation, over 15 Olympians have donned the white and red singlet and the club continues to identify and foster talent hoping to add to the list.
The most famous of our Olympians is the legendary Ronnie Delaney who won 1,500m gold in the 1956 Melbourne Olympics.
