Welcome (temp page)

Picture
Welcome to the mock up for a new Crusaders site.
I have been working on this for the last few months and I finally have the bata version ready... your looking at it now. Obviously this page and test pages will be removed.

This site is to give people an idea of what we might want on the web site. It may or may not be used. So make sure to leave feed back on what you like and don't so we can improve on it.

I've kept a lot of the old content from the original site ans added new content and some new features. All the Images were taken from the old site or from the face book page or they were ones I took. I know someone is going to say why is the site not red and white. I did originally have it red and white but it was quite strong on the eyes so i toned it down to grey and white.

One of the ideas we are going to be looking at replacing the existing site or creating dual sites.  This would mean that certain links on the main site would link to the second website and vice versa.

This would allow the people who need to edit and add the content are able to do so on the second site. Also from a redundancy point we would have back up sites if one went down.

For now you should look around this site by using the menu button at the top left of the page. this contains all the different pages on the site and allows you to navigate through them.

See if there is any issues with the site or anything needs to be changed.
Feel free to leave any comments or feed back on the website feedback page.  Report any issues you find like links not going where there suppose to or not working.

So why make a new site or Dual sites?

There are several groups within the club. Such as adult, juvenile, meet and train and social. In some of them there is subsections like track, relay etc. The information on these needs to be updated every now and again. So the people looking after these groups need to be able to update and change the information which is not available at the moment. By letting every section look after itself no part of the club is being ignored.

Having the ability to let the relevant people know what is on and how to participate will help members enter races or competitions or even take part in coaching. Where before hand they would have not had access to the information to do this.
This site has been designed with a particular  enfacence on communication. There are several ways for the public and members to share there ideas and communicate with the club.

There is a few other things I have put on the site just to see what they might be like.
There is part where you can give the club a review, leave comments and buy stuff online such as tickets for events etc.
DON'T buy tickets for events on this site because it is working to test it and it will take the money out of your account if you go through the whole process also Don't take risks on treacherous roads! :P

So look around and hope you like the site!

The original is using a format called Word press which is principally a blogging media and while this can be used to create great sites, you need to put in the time to create it and it requires some technical ability.

This site uses a browser based editing tool called Weebly.
This  content management system allows for easy creation of web pages with minimal knowledge.
So essentially it is to make the people who need to add content be able to do so.

The video up above explains some of the differences with weebly and word press.

For anyone who wants to learn more about Weebly, I'm leaving some you tube videos on this page if anyone wants to check them out.

Below I've outlined some features or Advantages of weebly.
  1. Unlimited number of pages for Free Accounts.
  2. Unlimited content for Free Accounts. Add as many photos and slide shows for Free Accounts.
  3. Unlimited bandwidth. No cap on monthly visitor activity for Free Accounts.
  4. Easy forms and entries. Multiple Contact Forms and Survey Forms for Free Accounts. Form submissions are available for viewing on site for administrators.
  5. Allow multiple administrators to edit the site even for Free Accounts
  6. Most user friendly and intuitive interface.
  7. No forced advertisements on Free Accounts.

Adding Content

With the new site any one who has been giving access to the site editor can add and change the content as they see fit.

Style and layout

Using Templates the new site can make a stylish and modern site with very little effort.

Blogs are the best way to do the news updates

I have been adding the news stories from the original site to give an idea of what it looks like on this site.
